An upcoming eight-part documentary series will take a dive into the unsolved Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders. Between 1972 and ’79, the nude bodies of seven girls and young women were found buried or dumped on the outskirts of the city. The documentary is directed by investigative journalist Grace Kahng, and produced by “Law and Order” creator Dick Wolf. No release date has been announced. Meanwhile, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has a possible new link to the hitchhiker murders. New DNA testing ties a man who died in prison to the body of a woman who was found murdered near Rohnert Park in 1996. The suspect, Jack Bokin, was serving 231 years in prison for violent sexual assaults.
